Fear of the dark

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.” ― Meg Cabot

Fear of the dark is one of the most common childhood fears. This is also a dread that adults can easily identify with. The average adult is not as confident and is also a little shaky in the dark. The inability to see clearly in the dark acts as an incentive to the imagination thereby leading to most of the people imagine that somebody is creeping up on them.

Thus if your child is petrified of the dark you can indulge him/her by leaving his/her bedroom door open or leaving a night light on. Keep the child well occupied with games and other activities throughout the day so that he/she has no time to brood on his/her fears. With the passage of time and his /her growing up, your child will realize that there is nothing to fear.
