Child-centric education is a rebel against subject-centered education. Before going ahead on how to impart it, I want to brush up your knowledge about it.

What is a child-centric education?

Child-centered or child-centric education is also known as student-centered education. In this, the main focus is on what the needs of a child are, and how to prepare a child to participate in an activity. There is a natural flow to education to him/her, and the instructor focuses on the spontaneous growth of a student. The kids have complete freedom, and the instructor offers training through several exciting activities.

Talking about the principles of child-centered education, they are Freedom, Self-activities, Development of Interests & needs, Reasonable Risk, Spontaneous Development, and Education Based on Experience.

How to impart a student-centered education?

As parents, your child is everything for you. You do a lot to make him/her happy, civilized, and educated. When it comes to teaching kids, the time has changed. Apart from school, you should follow child-centric education while teaching your children at home. The main issue that you face is – how to impart child-centered education. For your support, here are some ways that you can apply while educating your daughter or son at home:

Help your child in self-discovery

As the entire world is incorporating child-centric education, which is more focused on kids’ needs, you (parents) should also apply this at home. First of all, enable your baby to know him/her. Help him/her to find out their abilities, skills, and passions via problem-solving, questioning, creativity, innovation, and separate thinking. Keep in mind that children love adventure. Identify it in your child and let him/her do the same. Just have a close watch when your son/daughter does something challenging/adventurous.

Encourage your kids to learn through games

As a general tendency, children love playing games. They always want to be with their toys. As conscious parents, you should never stop your kids from playing games. Replace their toys with the educational one. Let him/her know letters, number, fruits, etc. through playing with toys. Buy educational games and help them to arrange numbers and letters. In brief, let your kids learn through toys and games and avoid pressing your children to learn things with the use of books, pen, and notebook in the beginning.

Support your children develop needs and interests

We all know necessity is the mother of invention. Keep it in mind while educating your son/daughter at home. You should support him/her to know what his/her requirements are. Besides, help your kids develop interests in something valuable to him/her. Be friendly to him/her and try to find out what topics/things he/she loves. After that, try to boost the same so that your kids can mention their interests to you. Gradually, your children start being independent.

Incorporate the Internet in everyday studies

The Internet is the best friend in today’s world. You can take its support where you find yourself unable to solve your children’s queries. Apart from resolving questions, you can encourage your child to use the Internet in his/her study. You need to keep a close watch when your kid starts using the Internet for his/her learning

Help the children do lessons at home

Almost every school has incorporated student-centered education. They do their best in fulfilling the same. As parents, you need to follow to same while helping your children in their homework. Try to make it exciting and fun. You can use tricks like story-telling and proper game playing. With this, your kids love doing lessons at home and don’t feel any pressure. Over time, he/she will start enjoying the study.

Make your kids participate in group activities

In child-centered education, there is an emphasis on group activity. At home, you should do it. Regularly, invite the children of your kid’s age in the park or at your house. Do something exciting and encourage all the children to participate in the activity. For example, you can ask them for tree plantation. During the plantation, instruct them why trees are essential in an exciting way so that they can easily comprehend.

In brief, you should value your kids while educating them at home. Keep the needs, interests, and capabilities in the center whatever you do for your child learning. Try to be his/her friend instead of being parents.
